Sami Handicraft
This page is produced in the north of Sweden, one of the Scandinavian countries. On these pages and its links you will find Sami handicraft.
The Sami people is an ethnic minority that lives in the north parts of Sveden, Norway, Finland and on the Kola peninsula in Russia. The origin life was to run reindeers and to follow them between mountains and forests during the different seasons of the year. Nowadays it is only a small group of people who live like that. Most of the Sami people live as other people in their countries, as well as indians do in USA.
Even if the old Sami society has changed, the origin culture is strong and it continues. One way to keep the connections to "the roots" is to make traditional handicraft. Every little detail was originally made by hand and we still make our handicraft in the same way.
I myself is one of the Sami people who keep contact with my history through making handicraft. I work with tin-thread, small beads and leather from the reindeer. I make bracelets, necklaces, things of leather from reindeer and other things based on Sami patterns and design. Take a look at my pages below!
